The Department of Bengali is one of the prestigious departments of the S.M.Dev College. The Bengali department started its journey from the beginning of the college in the year of 1995 with pass course. The Department offers degree in pass course (MIL, Elective Bengali) in the Semester mode and follows the grading system introduced by Assam University Silchar in CBCS (Choice based credit system) mode from the Academic session (2018-2019) .The Bengali subject is taught only at the UG level. Mr. Sabyasachi Banerjee was a first teacher of the department. At present Dr. Shimul Paul is the head of the Department. The department follows the NEP regulations and has introduced various courses under the FYUG . Under the leadership of the Head of the Department, the department is undertaking various schemes for quality education.
The vision of the Department of Bengali Satindra Mohan Dev college is to enrich language competence for the practical life, especially to sensitize the students by adopting various strategies to acquire skills in Bengali language and literature.
The mission of the Department of Bengali of Satindra Mohan Dev College is the overall development in the field of Bengali Language, Literature and Culture for impressive quantitative growth in Higher Education. The Department provides scientific insights into the usefulness of understanding language in general and literature of Bengali speaking people in particular. valuing language and literature as the creative genius of mankind is inherent in the mission.
