The Department of Economics was established with the establishment of the college on 25th March, 1995 with an objective of building up an atmosphere of higher education in Economics and to contribute in the process of social upliftment. The department started with General Course under the guidelines of Assam University and now from 2018, the institution started general course under CBCS mode of Assam University. Mr. Pravakar Sinha is the head of the department. He is the founder HOD and still actively serving in this department from 1995. This department has been producing quality student at regular basis.

Vision:

To create consciousness among the students about the world economy as well as the Indian economy and to discuss current economic issues and transfer appropriate knowledge about the subject and career-oriented education in Economics.

Mission:

To enhance the vision, the departmental exertions are related with the following missions.

• To encourage the personality development of the students.
• To create a spirit among the students to face present challenges.
• To develop a self-entrepreneurship spirit among the students.
